Consistency is the Key…

Investigations about the role that inflammation plays in illness such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer are beginning to raise awareness that yoga can provide a way to calm the body’s inflammatory responses and thus help towards prevention.  In Ohio, USA, researchers compared 25 women who regularly practiced yoga for 2 years with 25 new practitioners. The newbs showed a higher (36%) level of the hormone leptin which increases inflamation.  The experienced yogis had higher (28%) inflammation soothing hormone – adiponectin – in their bodies.  The longer the women practiced, the less likely their body tissue would become inflamed.  Study co-author said: “The health benefits of yoga increase as you practice longer and more consistently.”
