Chakra Flower Meditation: Connect with Nature and Your Inner Self

Chakras are a key concept in various Eastern spiritual traditions, particularly within Hinduism and Buddhism. The term “chakra” comes from the Sanskrit word for “wheel” or “disk” and refers to energy centers in the human body. Each chakra is thought to be a focal point of spiritual and physical energies.

Settle Yourself For Meditation

Relax into your chosen seated position. Ensure you are comfortable and warm. Take any props that you need to give yourself time for the mind to focus on this lovely, relaxing Chakra Flower Meditaiton.

You can open and close your eyes for this meditation, this will enable you to see the beauty in the nature of the flowers and perhaps feel the beauty of your own self as you connect with each flower and Chakra.

Look into the deep red shades of this flower. See the folding petals and the play of the light and shadows. And now connect with Mooladhara Chakra, a place a little way inside your body, just up from the centre of your pelvic floor. Close the eyes and imagine that you are breathing in and out, from the centre of the pelvic floor to a place just a few centimeters inside. Relax, the tummy and thighs. Take around 10 breaths here.

Gaze now at these orange flowers, see the wonderful markings, darker to lighter on the centres of the petals. Look at the different shapes of the petals, observing all the intricate parts. Isn’t nature so amazing? Now shift your focus, closing the eyes to take your awareness to your sacrum, to the body side of this bone, at the back of your pelvic ‘bowl’. This area home to our 2nd Chakra – Swadhisthana. As you breathe in and out now, feel this area expand and contract. Relax the buttocks. Spend about 10 breaths here.

Looking deeply into this flower – with lots and lots of stamen radiating from the centre. Delightful in it’s difference. Bringing your attention to the navel, feeling the navel and then beginning to breathe in and out through the navel, making a pathway back towards the spine and sensing Manipura Chakra in this area. Relax the tummy, enjoy about 10 breaths here, focusing on the naval Chakra, but maybe feeling an echo the lower 2 Chakras.

Bringing the focus now to this flower in bud. Each bud waiting patiently for the right time to emerge. Waiting to grow, to blossom and bloom. Closing the eyes and taking the awareness to the heart space, feeling the spaciousness here. The capacity to grow, to blossom and bloom. Anahata, the heart Chakra sits in this area, connect with this energy now. Spending around 10 breaths here, relaxing the chest and shoulders.

Observing now this delicate blue flower. The intricate patterning on the petals and the tiny curly stamen. How nature is so creative, we can only wonder. Now closing the eyes and focusing the awareness on the throat pit, breathing in from the throat pit to the place a little way back on the front part of the spine. It feels cool and calming, breathing in and then out along this pathway, in and out of the throat pit. Connect with the throat Chakra, Vishuddhi. Spend around 10 breaths here, relaxing the throat and jaw.

And now looking into this large, showy flower with a bit of a messy centre. Observing the patterns and shapes of the petals. How wonderful the symetry of the petals and yet the core is a little wild. Closing the eyes and focusing at the eyebrow centre, breathing into the centre of the head and then back out through the eyebrow centre. Sometimes we feel a little like this flower, showy on the outside and a little messy in the centre. That’s natural, that’s nature for you! Relax the eyes as you breathe in and out through the eyebrow centre, connecting with Ajna Chakra.

Gaze now at this flower, observing the tightly packed bud in the centre with the soft opening petals around it. Closing the eyes, bring awareness to the crown of the head. Feeling the energy here – Sahasrara Chakra, the crown Chakra. This energy helps us to connect to the world around us, being at one with nature, flowers, animals, people and places. Allow this Chakra to open a few petals as you relax the brow, soften the scalp and ears.

Opening the eyes once more, feeling into the physical body and noticing how you are. Before moving on from this meditation, reflect on a few questions…

  • Which Chakra was easy to connect with today?
  • Which Chakra was difficult to connect with today?
  • Can I still feel any Chakra energy, now I’ve ended the meditation?
  • Which flower appealed the most?
  • Are my connections easier the more I practice this meditation?

When you are ready, have a stretch and go about your day. Hopefully feeling more relaxed and connected to your world.

Regular practice of meditation offers numerous benefits that can enhance one’s overall well-being. By focusing on the Chakras, individuals can experience improved physical health, emotional stability, and heightened spiritual awareness. This practice can lead to a deeper sense of inner peace, increased self-awareness, and a stronger connection to both oneself and the surrounding world. Over time, the consistent alignment of these energy centers can help to release blockages, reduce stress, and foster a more harmonious and balanced life. Embracing Chakra meditation as a regular practice can thus serve as a powerful tool for personal growth, healing, and transformation.
