When the days are shorter and darker, many of us notice our eyes feeling more tired. We often see more puffiness, bags and ‘hoods’ around the eyes. The grey light causes our eyes to strain, which increases tension to build in the head. Spending most of our time indoors in centrally heated houses makes the eyes dry and scratchy. Why Our Eyes Suffer in Winter

In winter, we blink less, stare at screens more, and spend far less time looking into the distance. The muscles around the eyes, forehead, scalp, and jaw become tight and overworked. This restricts circulation. It also contributes to eye fatigue, headaches, sinus congestion, and a dull, heavy feeling behind the eyes.
